About Susan Fielder
I have a very big dream. One that I hope will make a difference for those who are currently fighting, or families who have lost a loved one to the silent killer, of pancreatic cancer. I want to raise awareness and much-needed funds to support pancreatic researchers to finally find a cure to this deadly disease.
My husband, Dan Mears, was a wonderful man and truly deserved to enjoy his retirement, friends, and family on his life path. Instead, pancreatic cancer took us into a world that was unknown, scary and frighteningly like an out of body experience. iPlaid happened on the way of digesting his loss, through grieving, and blindly trying to make a difference somehow, someway.
In the last 9.5 years since his death, I happened to find my passion on the iPad for creating art and the magic of this expression produced a plaid that I now call iPlaid, which stands for "Intuitive Passion Launches an Inner Discovery." None of this was planned, nor articulated, it is what has just become. I prayed about finding answers and I believe that a Higher Power has led me down this road.
My very first image on the iPad is called iPlaid in memoriam of Steve Jobs. Why? One reason was of my love for Apple products, but more importantly, the fact that he was known worldwide for fighting the fight but losing his battle with this terrible disease. It just made perfect sense to me to name my design "iPlaid" for him. I sent it to Tim Cook on metal which is a signature of my work to ask for his help and to please use the image and let Apple vendors give back a percentage of iPlaid-produced products with the iPlaid image to help Pancreatic Researchers find a cure. I am still hoping he will embrace this cause.
Other art followed as you will see with "Peaceful Passion" for my husband, "The Blessed Man" for Count Basie, "The Dancin' Man" for Patrick Swayze, "Notes to Music" for Luciano Pavarotti, and many more on my site. The first 22 images in my iPlaid gallery represent those we have lost. The goal is to raise awareness and much-needed funds for pancreatic cancer researchers by producing iPlaid imprinted products and tell the story. Hopefully, this will be a new way to find a cure through Art.
